Landmark Hotel Finds New Owner.

The Best Western Plus Guildwood Inn has a new owner.

Effective Wednesday, February 1, Hamilton-based Vrancor Group will take over operation of the 95-room facility on Venetian Blvd. in Point Edward.

Vrancor spokesman Peter Tosh says success with their new nearby build, Hampton Inn by Hilton, led to their decision to purchase the property.

“The Hampton Inn By Hilton was one of the fastest ramp-ups in our 16-property portfolio,” says Tosh.

“With the region’s rapidly expanding reputation as a global centre for manufacturing, research and development, access to the U.S. and tourism locales, we are pleased to welcome Best Western Plus Guildwood to our growing company.”

Lambton College Gets $11.8 Million for Upgrades.

Lambton College is undertaking a major renovation of existing facilities.

An $11.8-million funding commitment was announced at the Centre of Excellence in Energy and Bio-Industries Friday morning.

Lambton’s Vice President of Academics Donna Church says about 43,000 sq ft of the first floor and lower level, of the most southerly block of the campus, will be upgraded.

She says an addition will also be built on the main floor to house a boiler that is a key element in the chemical process and production technology and power engineering programs.

Shirley has over 30 years of experience in such diverse businesses as financial planning, manufacturing, and supply. Her education includes a B.A., B.ED., M.ED., C.F.P., N.L.P. and the home inspector’s course as well as having her AZ license for five years. They took the company from start up to over $400,000 in sales in five years. That was a lot of parts since the parts sold for only five cents per each. In 1985 they sold the company to one of their customers. Whether it was selling mutual funds, teaching foster parents how to recruit foster parents, or working for Tony Robbins, Shirley has put more than 100 percent into every endeavour she was involved in.
