Electric
car owners are expected to be able to plug in at the Tim Hortons on Colborne
Road in the coming months.
The 1399
Colborne Rd. location in Sarnia is one of 250 where Ontario's Ministry of
Transportation announced Wednesday that 500 electric vehicle charging stations
will be built.
The
ministry said in a press release it is working with 24 public and private-sector
partners, including Tim Hortons, to create a network of public charging
stations across the province.
Ontario
is providing $20 million for the network of charging stations, expected to be
in service by the end of next March.
The
Colborne Road Tim Hortons is scheduled to have one level three, or direct
current fast charger, station.
According
to the ministry, level three stations use a 480-volt system and can charge a
vehicle to 80 per cent in about 30 minutes.
